Odor Eliminators for Basements, Garages, and Storage

FAQ

How is Azuna different from charcoal odor absorbers or baking soda for musty basements?

Charcoal bags and baking soda work through physical adsorption, which means they'll eventually become saturated and ineffective. Azuna's pure Australian tea tree oil-based formula instead actively neutralizes airborne smells at the source, and our gel works for up to three months at a time. For a genuinely musty basement, the difference in performance is usually noticeable within the first week.

How long will it take to notice a difference in a basement that's been musty for years?

The timeline depends on how deeply embedded the odor is. While our gel works continuously, it doesn't promise an instant result; instead, you're likely to notice an improvement within the first three to seven days.

For a basement that's been accumulating musty odors for years, letting your gel work for an entire full cycle—60 to 90 days—is your best option. If it's in an area away from children and pets, you can also remove the lid from your jar to maximize airflow and accelerate results.

Will one pod be enough for a full basement, or do I need multiple?

It depends on the size and layout of your basement. For finished basements with multiple rooms, or particularly large unfinished spaces, we recommend opting for two jars or plastic pods (your choice). Smaller storage spaces will likely do well with just one Azuna jar, although it may need to be refreshed more frequently.

A good rule of thumb is to think about where air naturally circulates and position pods accordingly to maximize dispersion.

Basements are arguably one of the hardest areas in your home to keep fresh. A combination of poor airflow, high humidity, and the general accumulation of all that storage creates ideal conditions for the kind of deep, persistent mustiness that conventional air fresheners simply can't touch.

We're partial to fixing basement odors because that's where we began: with a basement laundry room and a mildew smell that nothing else could touch. Now, our pure Australian tea tree oil-based formula works for up to 90 days to continuously eliminate those smells.

Basement Odor Removal Products Built for Large, Challenging Spaces

Basements, garages, and storage areas typically face different challenges than bedrooms and bathrooms. They're often larger, lack natural ventilation, and forgotten about during your weekly resets. To help tackle those entrenched smells, we have a slate of products designed to target odors from mildew and general mustiness.

  • Large Room Odor Eliminator Treatment: A great starting point for a standard basement or garage. Designed for bigger spaces where a standard reusable plastic pod would be spread too thin, it delivers proportionally stronger basement odor elimination in just one container.

  • Premium Odor Eliminator 4 Room Starter Kit: For homes where the basement odor problem has spread (or where you want to address the basement and several other areas simultaneously) our Premium Kit covers includes enough gel to cover four rooms alongside a refill pouch for future top-ups and an Ultra Mist spray for immediate freshness.

  • 24 oz Gel Refill: Keeps your pods running without interruption. For a consistently musty basement, having a refill on hand means you're never caught without gel between refreshes.

  • Multipurpose Cleaning Wipes: For surface-level basement odor removal on shelving, walls, and stored items where smells have settled onto surfaces.

Musty Odor Eliminator That Works With Your Space, Not Against It

Good airflow helps Azuna perform at its best. In a basement, that means placing your container in a central location where air naturally circulates, rather than tucked in a corner. For particularly large or compartmentalized basements, using two containers in different areas provides more complete coverage; some customers even place pods in air ducts to distribute coverage through the whole house from the source.
